On Monday the 23rd of November, Impact Arts was delighted to hand out a record number of Arts Awards to young people at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

74 young people achieved their Bronze and Silver Arts Awards. The young people, from Edinburgh, Ayrshire and HMYOI Polmont, worked hard over the summer, taking part in Impact Arts’ Gallery 37, Creative Pathways and Coco Music projects to achieve their certification.

Ryan, one of the young people who got his certificate said: ““Without Impact Arts and Gallery 37 I wouldn’t have got my Silver Award. And that’s important to me, cos it was very hard work, and not something I could have done on my own!”

The young people were joined by their families and friends to enjoy tea and cakes, before being handed their certificates by Fiona Doring, Impact Arts’ Acting Director.

Fiona said: “I’m delighted that a record number of young people successfully achieved their Arts Awards. They are now armed with a host of new skills, improved employment prospects and certification which can be added to their CV’s. I wish them all the best of luck in the future.”

Guests also enjoyed an exhibition of work by a group of young artists on the Impact 66 programme. Impact Arts ran a heritage programme in partnership with the National Museum, with funding from the Heritage Lottery during the summer.
