Community arts charity Impact Arts is looking for a HR Trustee to join our team!
Job Title: HR Trustee
Location: We would hope Trustees could attend some Board meetings each year in person, although Finance & HR committee meetings are online so the candidate could come from across Scotland.

The HR Trustee takes a lead role on the Board of advising on Fair Work principles and policies and is a sounding board to the CEO on any HR related issues. Previous Trustee experience is not essential.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Together with the other Impact Arts Trustees, accountable for the overall strategic leadership and direction of Impact Acts.
Support the CEO and Head of Finance & Corporate Services in ensuring Fair Work principles are adopted and adhered to throughout the charity.
Review progress against Impact Artsโ Fair Work action plan, Annual Staff Survey and Board Self-Evaluation Review.
Uphold Impact Artsโ core values.
Governance
Together with the other Impact Arts Trustees, oversee the affairs of Impact Arts through efficient, effective and accountable governance.
Ensure the organisation is professionally run, manages risk, operates strict financial controls and acts in accordance with its aims and objectives.
Ensure the organisation has appropriate policies and safeguards in place.
Ensure risks are effectively managed and mitigated.
Support the work of the Finance & HR Committee in line with its terms of reference.
Profile and Stakeholders
Champion and promote the work of Impact Arts through professional networks.
Represent Impact Arts at external and internal events to grow and sustain the charity profile.
Ensure the voice of staff and volunteers are central to strategic decision making.
Time Commitment
On average, the HR Trustee would be expected to undertake the following each year:
4 x Trustee Board meetings held per annum commencing 6.00pm for approximately 2 hours duration plus preparatory reading in advance. (meetings held in person in Glasgow although option to attend virtually)
4 x Finance & HR Committee meetings held per annum (meetings held on Teams and typically last 2 hours)
1 or 2 half day Board strategic planning meetings p.a.
1 x Annual General Meeting & Showcase Event
1 x annual appraisal meeting with Chair
Occasional training as required e.g. equalities & diversity; Charity Governance; Safeguarding
Attend Sub-Group Meetings as agreed. There is an expectation that Trustees will take Board
ownership of one strategic theme and sit on one Committee. Current committees include Finance & HR Committee and Policy with plans to establish a Programme Delivery Committee in coming months.
Occasional focussed meetings between Board Meetings, as agreed. Short life working groups for Property and EDI have existed in recent years.

Engagement with our exhibitions and events which run throughout the year (Trustees are expected to attend at least 2 events p.a.)
Fulfilling an ambassadorial role while meeting new contacts and networks
As HR Trustee, you will be expected to act as a sounding board for HR related issues (Impact Arts also has a membership with SCVO HR service offering advice & support)

Ongoing support and mentoring will be available and the Chair of the Board will work with the appointed Trustee to conduct a training needs analysis at the outset of their tenure.
Ultimately, as a Trustee, you will be able to make a real difference to a vibrant, national arts organisation that aims to support many people in achieving their potential.
Qualifications & Experience
At least 2 years experience in delivering/assisting creative activity in diverse community settings
Qualification in the arts is desirable
Technical Skills and Knowledge
Competent IT skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
