Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s round of updates from Impact Arts! Normally published on a Monday, here it is three days early as a little treat!
Creative Pathways: Theatre
Arts, Edinburgh
“This week in costume we have been focusing on our bronze Arts Award. We have been doing the skill share and arts practice sections and noting down what we still have to do to complete our Arts Award.” – Dylan Davidson
“Performance have chosen and
been writing monologues to memorise and perform in front of the other performers
as a part of Text Week.” Matty MacDonald
“Set Design have been working on
building a portable bathroom on wheels for a Fringe show called ‘Sanitise’
designed by Alice Wilson.” Arjun Singh
Craft Cafe, Edinburgh
Meanwhile at the
Craft Café, preparation for the exhibition is well under way as the mountains
of original artwork is being mounted and framed for the exhibition at Out of
the Blue Drill Hall 8th – 15th July.
On Thursday Impact Arts helped celebrate the 92nd Birthday of Sir
Alan Peacock, a regular at Craft Café! Sir Alan celebrated with some cheeky Prosecco, Gooseberry and Elderflower Sorbet and
fancy ice cream in one of his “favourite places to be” – Craft Café of course!
Creative Pathways Glasgow is Back!
Creative Pathways Glasgow kicks off on the 5th August! Impact Arts is looking forward
to welcoming young people to an exciting new programme of set design, props, hair,
theatrical makeup and the opportunity to make a music video! This is an 8 week programme
with SQA accreditation open to 16/17year olds. At the moment we are taking
referrals and recruiting new tutors. The flyer will be ready next week so check back soon!
Urban Green Community Garden
Project , Castlemilk
An exciting new project is
about to enter its first stages, as Impact Arts begin working with young people on the
design of a community garden. The idea behind the project is to promote
health and wellbeing within the area, and to create a legacy for the locals to
develop and make use of – a beautiful space, created by the local community for the local community. Can’t wait to see this project develop into something really special.
Yunus Centre for Social
Business – Exchange Visit
Impact Arts was pleased to
welcome a group of students from the University of Florence, Italy, through the
Yunus Centre for Social Business who were on a cultural exchange to
Glasgow. Impact Arts was approached by
the Yunus Centre to host the visitors and share our models of Social Enterprise
with them during a visit on Wednesday morning. The students visited The Factory, the Young Gallery and the Eco-chic Boutique
to find out about Impact Arts’ projects and enterprise activities. All of the visitors had a great time, and
went away with plenty of products from the gallery and the Boutique, and
lots of inspiration to take home!
Creative Pathways Showcase, Renfrewshire
The culmination of this 10 week programme is taking place on Thursday night in Paisley. Find out all about the event here.
