Creative Pathways ‘Theatre Arts’, Edinburgh
The young people’s WW1 performance at Ocean Terminal was a big success, and they moved the audience
with singing, dancing and improvisation, allowing both
celebration and a pause for reflection. Their design included atmospheric
elements such as entrance through a trench and used traditional nurses,
officers and soldiers uniforms to set the scene and transport us back in time!
All three groups made their semi-final trip to Jupitar Artland to create a logo for the GPS app they’ve been working on. Using Geo-Paint, young people tracked their journey around the estate with GPS and came up with a logo combining their adventures!
The
Set Design Team created a Beach Hut in record time for a community consultation event in Glasgow’s Alexandra Park. Read Natalie McFadyen White’s Representing Dennistoun blog here to find out more about the project.
Cooking up Creativity at the
Elderpark Craft Café
Opportunities Assistant Rosanna has been running creative writing workshops at Elderpark
Craft Café on Tuesday afternoons! The group chose a theme of ‘Food’ and Rosanna hopes to put together a recipe book of the older peoples favourite cooking tips, creative writing and illustration. Highlights so far include Waris’s secret curry recipes which will be revealed, along with the
story of his voyage from Pakistan to Glasgow in the 1960’s, Frank’s stories
about his favourite childhood sweets and Irene’s reflections on her first date
dinner.
The book will hopefully be
available to buy once it’s finished, so watch this space!

Eco-chic Boutique Summer
Shoot for ASOS!
Impact Arts’ Eco-chic Boutique is launching their latest line of clothing on ASOS Marketplace this week. Here’s a behind the scenes peek at their latest photo shoot of new products and exciting new summer looks which are easy to wear and bang on trend. The team fused vintage style looks with grungy accessories, featuring some exclusive one-off pieces designed and made by young people on the Creative Pathways Renfrewshire programme – a life changing employability programme in Paisley right now.
Jaq, a young person from Creative Pathways Refrewshire, who has applied to
study both fashion and make-up artistry said of the shoot:
“I never
noticed how good my cape could look, it looked like I hadn’t made it. A dream day
at my dream job!”
Ross, another young person from Creative Pathways Renfewshire who is about to embark upon a photography course in college, was delighted to pick up some real on-the-job experience and said:
“I loved working in the professional environment while still
maintaining a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for putting the models at
ease and encouraging the best possible shots.”
Items will be available for sale here from this week.
