Community arts charity Impact Arts is looking for a Creative Assistant to join our team as part of our Young Parents Pilot project!

Job Title: Creative Assistant

Rate of Pay: £12.60 per hour for 50 hours in total (12 x 4hr delivery sessions plus 2
hours prep/admin)

Location: Workshops will take place in Stranraer, Dumfries, Annan and Kelloholm.
An agreed contribution to travel can be made of maximum £20 per day

Reporting to: Programme Manager

Duration of contract: It is expected that all workshops will take place in February & March.
Exact dates will be shared once confirmed.

Working hours: Specific workshop times are still TBC but they will take place during
standard working hours, between 9am – 5pm.

The chosen candidate will assist in the delivery of a series of 12 creative workshops (three sessions per group) for up to 60 young parents across four localities in Feb–Mar 2026, in partnership with local Youth Work and Employability teams.

Objectives:

  • Build confidence and self-esteem
  • Improve health and wellbeing through creativity
  • Identify skills and learn self-promotion
  • Increase motivation

Sessions will be therapeutic, fun, and sociable, using creative activities such as vision boards, positive affirmations, lino printing, planters, needle felting, clay crafts, and mono printing. Parents will focus on personal growth while Youth Workers provide activities for children nearby.

Main Responsibilities

  • To assist the Creative Lead with all aspects of workshop delivery, including set up, practical
  • activities and clearing away materials at the end of the workshop. 
  • To support in the design and delivery of high quality and structured programmes.
  • To support participants to engage fully in creative workshops.
  • To provide administrative support to the Creative Lead as required. Tasks may include word
  • processing, updating of spreadsheets and database and ordering materials.
  • To assist in the design, planning, organising and delivery of Impact Arts’ arts projects.
  • To engage with the participants, facilitating simultaneously the creative process and personal
  • learning and development.
  • To document workshops through a variety of means, taking photographs and evaluating the project
  • with the participants, producing statistics, case studies and other reports for evaluation.
  • To represent Impact Arts at events and exhibitions.
  • To participate in training, meetings and events as required
  • To support and promote Impact Arts’ Values
  • To carry out any other duties appropriate to the post in line with Impact Arts’ needs

Person Specification

Impact Arts is looking for people with the following qualities, experience, knowledge and
competencies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 2 years experience in delivering/assisting creative activity in diverse community settings
  • Qualification in the arts is desirable
  • Technical Skills and Knowledge
  • Competent IT skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Approachable and empathetic manner
  • Energy and commitment
  • Imaginative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent self management, organisational and planning skills
