Special Craft Cafe artwork to be unveiled as part of Luminate Festival!

Wed 20th September 2017

A special exhibition of artwork by over 40 older Craft Cafe participants will be unveiled in Edinburgh next month.

Focusing on the theme of Storytelling, this will be a collection of prints, drawings, paintings, sewn pieces and collaborative artwork by older people from across Scotland.

Also making up the exhibition will be handmade zines of participants’ work, a large-scale storytelling tapestry and new designs from the Craft Cafe textile range.

Artwork and handmade items will be available to purchase for anyone looking to pick up a unique, lovingly-crafted gift.

The exhibition will take place at The Image Collective gallery on the second floor of Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre (Ocean Dr, Edinburgh EH6 6JJ). It will be open to the public between Saturday 6th October and Sunday 29th October between 10am and 4pm.

The exhibition is running as part of the Luminate Festival 2017, Scotland’s celebration of creative ageing.

Craft Cafe workshops run in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire. They offer a safe, creative environment for over-60s to socialise while getting involved in artistic projects. Workshops run in both community and care home settings.

The programme is funded and supported by Viewpoint
Housing Association, Elderpark Housing Association, the Scottish Government’s
People and Communities Fund, Barrhead Housing Association, Linstone Housing
Association and FLAIR Housing Associations.
