Operating out of a dedicated art room within Viewpoint Care Home in Edinburgh. The Craft Cafe creates a sense of purpose, reduces isolation and provides a therapeutic space which allow residents to feel better connected  

From painting and drawing to jewellery making and sculpture, our Craft Café bridges the gap between care and housing support, creating a vibrant creative space and improving social interaction.

Increased physical exercise, reduced GP visits, improved abilities to self-manage conditions are all evidenced through our award-winning evaluation findings.

Are you aged 60+ and looking to renew social networks, connect with your local community and grow in confidence?

Craft Café activities are self-directed by members and include a wide range of creative techniques. From photography and painting to knitting and crochet; from upcycling furniture and wood burning to printmaking and sculpture, the list is endless and there is something to suit everyone’s interests.

You will be provided with all the art materials and equipment you need to get involved – as well as support that can help you feel better in body, mind and soul. 

Participating in the arts can improve mental health by reducing stress and isolation and improving self-esteem.

Glasgow
Ages: 60+

Sessions – 10am and 4pm, from Tuesday until Thursday each week, at the Elderpark Housing Association, 65 Golspie St, Govan, Glasgow G51 3AX

In 2020/21 Craft Café Govan engaged with 66 older people in the local community on a weekly basis
