Impactful Parents

Impactful Parents

Impactful Parents is running in West Dunbartonshire from September – November 2024.

Thursdays 9:30am – 2:30pm

Fridays 9:30am – 12noon

Parents based in West Dunbartonshire can attend, where they will gain employability skills and SQA qualifications, and will receive 1-1 support towards future employment, plus there will be lots of creative arts activities to enjoy.

During the sessions, participants will benefit from tailored activities that focus on preparing them for the world of work, including interview preparation, job research and confidence building tasks. Health and wellbeing is also a key focus of this programme, with regular scheduled wellbeing activities.

Participants can receive up to £30 per week as a training allowance for attending the programme, plus travel costs can also be reimbursed.

A 12-week employability programme designed for parents experiencing barriers to employment

What to expect

Impact Arts’ friendly, supportive delivery staff will work with participants to ensure everyone reaches their potential and has a great experience. Our dedicated Youth Worker will support participants to gain an SQA qualification and will offer tailored pastoral support throughout the 12 weeks. Our Creative Lead tutor will introduce participants to new artistic techniques and will support them in creating artworks using various artforms. We also hope to link up with local community groups during this programme and to work with specialists to offer a packed programme of useful training and activities.

At the end of the 12 weeks, there will be a celebratory showcase of work that will be planned, collated and hosted by the participants. Friends and family members can help the participants to celebrate their achievements. This event will be child-friendly and open for all!

We aim to help each participant to build confidence and develop employability skills to ensure they go on to a positive destination once they complete the programme. This could be further training, education or employment.

The programme is open to the following people:

Parents (can be any age, up to 67 years) who are experiencing barriers to employment

Lone Parents

Parents with a disability or who have children with a disability

Parents with 3 or more children

Parents from a minority ethnic background

Families with a parent under 25 years old

Other low-income parents e.g. kinship carers
