Tackling inequalities and addressing poverty

Almost nine in 10 children are living in poverty in some areas of Glasgow and 37.6% of children in Govan are living in poverty according to Action for Children.

At Impact Arts, we’re on a mission to tackle inequalities and address poverty across Scotland through art and creativity. One of the ways we do this is through Outdoor Creative Play.

This programme is designed to provide creative, therapeutic support to children who need it most, offering them a summer to remember.

To make this project happen, Impact Arts needs your help to raise £3,500 by the end of June 2025.

What is Outdoor Creative Play?

Connecting children with nature

Outdoor Creative Play is designed to spark the imaginations of children, and instill a love of nature, playing outside, and making friends.

What children will enjoy 🎨

In this programme, children have the opportunity to:

  • Create abstract sculptures from organic material
  • Build birds’ nests and dens in Elder Park
  • Take part in forest treasure hunts
  • Engage in storytelling and painting with mud
  • Enjoy a nutritious meal
  • Play outside and learn about nature
  • Make friends with other children

Your donation will help us bring more laughter and play to these children’s summer holidays.

The children we support

This Impact Arts programme is for primary school children aged 5-11 in Govan who are:

  • living in poverty
  • experiencing hardship or trauma
  • struggling with behavioural difficulties
  • have low mood, anxiety or low levels of physical activity
  • or struggling to making friends at school

Your support will enable us to provide crucial support to children experiencing hardship and give them a summer filled with creativity and fun in nature.
