Arts’ Craft Café workshops for the over 60’s opening in four new locations

Free Craft Café
workshops are now open in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, in partnership
with FLAIR – The Federation of Local Associations in Renfrewshire and East
Renfrewshire, and ROAR – Reaching Older Adults in Renfrewshire. Craft Café
programmes provide people aged 60+ with the opportunity to access an arts
workshop and support from an artist in residence. The workshop is a place where
they can learn new skills, renew social networks and reconnect with their
communities. Craft Café takes place in both community and care home settings.

The programme offers members
a safe, social environment, teaches new skills, reduces isolation and
loneliness, improves mental and physical health and encourages joy in later
life.

Natalie McFadyen
White, Programme Manager said:

“We’re delighted to
be working with FLAIR and ROAR to bring this life-changing programme to the
over 60’s in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire. Craft Café has run in Glasgow
and Edinburgh for years, and we’ve found that more than 80% of older people
involved reported feeling more confident and connected to their communities.
The benefits of this programme go way beyond learning a few arts and crafts
skills, so I would encourage everyone who can to get involved!”
