With titles like ‘Poppies in Sunshine’, ‘Galloping Horse and Lady’, ‘Hedgehog in the Glen’, ‘Big Headed Seated Figure’ and ‘Summers Night in the Lagoon’, Craft Café’s first run of digitally printed fabrics blew everybody away at their launch on Thursday 3rd December. Out of the Blue Drill Hall in Edinburgh was a lovely backdrop for a range of 100% wool and 100% silk Georgette scarves, which were lit up to show their colours and vibrancy.
The six
paintings that inspired the prints were also on display, including “The Surprising Toad” by Wendy. This painting was showcased to show the process involved in creating the garments, from painting,
to digital printing onto fabric, then the construction of each piece. Congratulations to all of the artists; John, Tom, Margaret,
Wendy and Neil – half of the line was sold immediately!
The range was launched at a tea dance event which featured Lindy hop dancers and was attended by Jayne Baxter MSP and friends and family of the Craft Café members.
The guests were also invited to browse a selection of mounted
paintings, jewellery, sketchbooks and scripts to ‘Ruby and Pablo’s Guide to
Marriage‘. All items can be bought directly from the Craft Café, St Raphael’s, The Chapel, 6 South Oswald Road, Edinburgh EH9 2HG
on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
