‘All Our Yesterdays’, a new exhibition of artwork by older artists from Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, is coming to the Paisley Arts Centre on Wednesday the 30th of March 2016.

Impact Arts has been delivering its life-changing Craft Café programme in partnership with FLAIR and Roar in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire. Older people aged 60+ have been taking part in free weekly workshops at the West End Community Centre and the Sheltered Housing Complex.

Craft Café members have been researching the local histories of Johnstone, Paisley and Barrhead to create a collection that interprets their local areas and landmarks. The exhibition includes handmade quilts, textile pieces featuring sewing/embroidery techniques, Paisley Pattern, watercolours, acrylic artwork of historical buildings and beauty spots, and heraldry.

Natalie McFadyen White, Programme Manager for Impact Arts said:

“We’re working in partnership with the Federation of Local Housing Associations in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire (FLAIR) and Reaching Older Adults in Renfrewshire (ROAR), delivering Craft Café in four key areas. The workshops help older people reconnect with their social networks in a safe, social environment and learn new skills. They’ve produced a beautiful, varied exhibition of work that shows the variety of skills they have learned, whilst showcasing their local area.”

Adele Fraser, Chief Executive at Linstone Housing, who has co-ordinated the housing association input, said:

“We are delighted at how Craft Café has provided really interesting and enjoyable activities for our sheltered housing tenants, the art work produced has been to a very high standard.”

Nicola Hanssen, General Manager at Roar – Connections for Life, said:

“We’re happy to be involved in this partnership which gives older adults the opportunity to explore their creative side and learn new skills while connecting with their local community to showcase all they have achieved.”

The exhibition will open to the public from Thursday 31st March to Monday 4th April 10am-3pm.
