Creative Pathways - Impact Arts Solution to Youth Unemployment Launches for 2012!
A new report from the Prince’s Trust has revealed that ‘almost three-quarters (73 per cent) of young people in Scotland claim that unemployment is seriously curtailing their life chances and will continue to do so’. Impact Arts has been helping young people to increase their prospects through their innovative Creative Pathways programme since 2008.
Creative Pathways is a youth employability programme with two strands - Eco-Chic Fashion Freak, a fashion design and retail project, and Home, a furniture and product design project. Both projects combine practical skills with the opportunity to gain retail experience in Impact Arts’ first retail venture, The Eco-Chic Boutique. This is an exciting 6 month programme for young people aged between 16 and 19, starting at the end of September. They will receive £55.00 per week plus travel allowance. The young people will attend workshops 4 days of the week between Monday and Saturday, from 9.30am until 4pm (subject to amendment).
