Impact Arts were delighted to welcome the
Lord Mayor of the City of London today (Monday 21 January 2013) to our Edinburgh
office as part of his visit to venture philanthropy investor Inspiring Scotland.
Impact Arts is one of the charities who receive investment and support
from Inspiring Scotland’s 14:19 Fund, which supports young Scots into
employment, education or training.
Alderman Roger Gifford,
Lord Mayor of the City of London, said:
“Inspiring Scotland is pioneering an
innovative approach to supporting the Scottish third sector through venture
philanthropy.
“I am passionate about the way in which
the arts and culture can transform lives for the better right across society.
The fantastic work undertaken by Impact Arts with support from Inspiring
Scotland demonstrates this fact.”
Lynn Carr, Chief
Executive Impact Arts, said:
“I am delighted that the Lord Mayor of London
visited Impact Arts’ Edinburgh office today. It was brilliant to be able to
show him firsthand the difference the arts can make in young people’s
lives.”
Andrew Muirhead Chief
Executive of Inspiring Scotland, said:
“I am delighted the Lord Mayor of London has
been able to see the impact of our venture philanthropy approach in Scotland by
visiting Impact Arts today.
“Our approach helps charities to become
stronger and more robust, and ultimately helps even more of the Scotland’s most
vulnerable people.”
The Lord Mayor spent time with young people learning about Creative Pathways, Gallery 37 and Fab Pad and seeing first hand the impact that these programmes can have on young people’s lives.
