On the 22nd
of July, Impact Arts will be hosting a comedy benefit at legendary venue The
Stand in Glasgow, good news for everyone who is looking ahead to the Fringe
Festival in August! Featuring a line-up of comedy stalwarts, which so far
includes Larah Bross, Gareth Waugh, Chris Forbes and Bruce Fummey, the event will be compéred by Jay
Lafferty. Ticket sales will raise funds for Impact Arts life-changing creative
programmes.

Jay Lafferty said:

“Comedy is an amazing
vehicle for improving confidence and increasing wellbeing! Impact Arts has a
strong ethos of supporting budding young performers through programmes like Creative
Pathways and Gallery 37. We hope that
this comedy night will raise funds to support more young people to forge a
career in the creative industries and give people a good laugh in the process!”

Chris Forbes is a
critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, actor and writer who has starred in and
written for numerous TV, radio and stage productions. As an Actor, Chris has
appeared in BBC shows, SCOT SQUAD, DEAR GREEN PLACE and the upcoming sitcom
from Pappy’s sketch group, BADULTS. Chris is also one third of the critically
acclaimed sketch group, ‘How Do I Get Up There?’

Chris said:

“I am honoured to be
part of the benefit night to raise money for Impact Arts as I have seen first-hand
some of the fantastic work they do. The arts (comedy in particular) are a great
way to inspire creativity in people and the confidence that can build in
someone can make a huge difference in their lives.

“I know how much
performing has helped me become a more confident and motivated individual so
providing a platform for others who may be struggling or just in need of some
inspiration or direction, is incredibly important and worthwhile.”

Gareth Waugh is a Scottish
comedian who is a regular on the Edinburgh Festival circuit, and has several
radio credits to his name including “Radio 4 Xtra Stands Up”; Radio Scotland’s
“Glasgow Banter”; Radio 4’s “The Speakeasy” as well as several others.

Larah Bross, a Canadian comedian from Montreal will be joining Gareth and Chris. Larah has many strings to her bow, being a successful writer, presenter and a veteran of both sketch and stand up comedy.

We’re pleased to confirm that our headliner is Bruce Fummey. Bruce has been a teacher, a financial advisor and computer trainer, but we like him best as a stand-up comedian. Other accolades include winning Wag of the Year at the Marriot hotel in Glasgow, helping to raise £31,000 for charity!

You can see the five of them, plus other special guests for a night of belly laughs all for a good
cause!
