Fantastic opportunity for artists at Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children

Fri 05th May 2017

Impact Arts are looking for applications from artists for a fantastic opportunity to renovate the Sanctuary area of Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children.

We recently led creative consultations with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and the hospital community.

The responses to this consultation will now inform the creation of new artwork(s) to be installed in the entrance corridor to the Sanctuary, a non-denominational space within the hospital designed for quiet contemplation.

Some of the concerns raised were that the Sanctuary felt too isolated, it was viewed as an adult-only space and it was deemed a space for prayer, rather than being and contemplation.

Now we are looking for an artist – or artists – to work on the brief to transform the space. The commission has a budget of ÂŁ3,000 to cover artist fees, materials and installation costs.

Artists must submit the following information via email by 12pm on Friday 26th May 2017:

  • A one page response to the brief, detailing how you will tackle the challenges and respond to the identified themes
  • An up-to-date CV
  • A portfolio of previous work related to your application

A tour of the Sanctuary prior to the application deadline can also be arranged.

All applications and queries should be sent to Natalie McFadyen White, Senior Programme Manager at Impact Arts, at nmcfadyen@impactarts.co.uk – or call 0141 575 3001.
