Craft Café, our arts and crafts workshop for older people won a Glasgow Community Champions Award for the South East area at a glittering awards ceremony last night. Craft Café, based in Castlemilk, was entered into the awards by Cassiltoun Housing Association under the Health and Wellbeing category and triumphed against some stiff competition!
The Castlemilk Craft Café members had a brilliant time at the cermony, as did assistant tutor Amanda, and lead tutor Claire Sherridan, who accepted the award on their behalf. Craft Café will now go forward for the overall Glasgow Community Champions Award at the end of the year.
Laura Gutierrez, Senior Programme Manager at Impact Arts said:
‘We are delighted to have won – thank you to Cassiltoun Housing Association for surprising us with a nomination! The Craft Café members had a ball at the awards ceremony, and are looking forward to the Glasgow-wide awards later in the year. At a time where funding is being cut left right and centre, it is so important to receive recognition for projects that make such a positive difference in peoples lives. The Community Champion Awards do just this and we are very grateful to be chosen as winners !’
