Govan has one of the lowest life expectancies in the UK. Since 2010, Impact Arts has been tackling poverty, isolation, and loneliness by hosting a creative community for older people in the area.
Craft Café is a free weekly art programme for Govan residents aged 60+, running three days a week, 50 weeks a year at Elder Park Library.
40% of attendees live in the top 0.5% most deprived streets in Scotland. For many, Craft Café is a vital creative community — a place to connect, support each other, and feel part of something.
But we’re facing a funding shortfall. To keep this essential service going, we’re asking local business owners, trusts, foundations, and individuals like you to pledge your support before August 29, 2025.
Together, we can keep Govan crafting.

We’re taking part in Big Give’s Christmas Challenge. We know the festive season may feel far off, but we need your help now to unlock vital funding for Craft Café.
To qualify for matched donations in December, we need to secure £3,750 in pledges by August 29, 2025.
What’s a pledge? It’s simply a promise to donate — and you won’t need to make your payment until between December 9, 2025 and January 6, 2026.
If we hit our pledge target, every donation we raise during the Christmas Challenge will be doubled through Big Give.
You can choose to pledge any amount, big or small, to help us make a difference to older people in Govan.

Craft Café is open to anyone over 60 living in the Govan area. No creative experience is needed and all materials are provided free of charge.
We offer a wide range of activities, including drawing, painting, crafting, knitting, puzzles, storytelling, and more.
Our Craft Café members have the opportunity to:
With your pledge, we can keep this warm, welcoming, creative space thriving for the older people who rely on it most.
