Luminate, Scotland’s creative ageing festival, is running for the entire month of October. Launched in 2012, the festival includes dance, drama, music, visual arts, storytelling, photography and crafts
events across Scotland, all communicating the message that creativity has no age.
We are delighted that Craft Cafe, our flagship creative programme for over-60s, is well-represented in the 2017 festival. Running in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, we have exhibitions and open days taking in each of these areas over the next month.
The aim is to give people an idea of how Craft Cafe helps older people reach their creative potential in a safe and welcoming environment led by professional artists. We also hope to encourage new members to get involved!
Here’s what we have coming up…
A collection of prints, drawings, paintings, sewn pieces and collaborative artwork by older people from across Scotland. There will be handmade zines of participants’ work, a large-scale storytelling tapestry and new designs from the Craft Cafe textile range. Items will be available to purchase for anyone looking to pick up a unique, lovingly-crafted gift.
Impact Arts opens the doors of Craft Café workshops in Johnstone for fun-filled arts sessions and musical reminiscence. If you are 60+ and living in Renfrewshire, come along for art, tea and cake!
