Older people

Craft Cafe Govan is currently not running at the moment. We are working with Elderpark Community Centre and keeping up to date with government guidelines and hope to be back running from the centre soon.

However, we are working with each individual to provide monthly activity bags shaped to their interests. This is supported by regular online craft/arts activities; the provision of creative and exercise focused activities newsletters/booklets; and regular phone calls and welfare check-ins.

Creative Cafe, at Inch Park Community Sports Centre is starting back on Thursday 3rd September 2020.

There will be a few changes as we make adjustments to our delivery so that we can follow Scottish Government Guidance and Inch Park Community Sports Centre’s guidelines. Our first priority is to keep all members safe and well. As such we will be limiting the number of participants for each session, so that we can accommodate social distancing measures.

Creative Cafe will return with sessions starting on the afternoon of Thursday 3rd September. Morning and afternoon sessions will then be running from the 4th September on-wards (eg; 10th, 11th, etc).

Our flagship programme for older people is, Craft Cafe. It offers a safe, social and creative environment where older people can learn new skills, renew social networks, and reconnect with their communities. The activities, self-directed by participants, harness the joy of creativity, artistic expression and learning.

Craft Café has two distinct models of delivery, one within a community setting, the second within a care home. The methodology of self directed learning and choice flow through both models, as does the aim to connect with the wider community. Our community set Craft Cafe is held in Govan while our care home set Craft Cafes are held in Viewpoint homes in Edinburgh. As well as our community based Creative Cafe at Inch Park in Edinburgh.
