In order to protect the safety of our Glasgow and Edinburgh members, and in light of Government recommendations around COVID-19, we are no longer meeting in our regular Craft Café/Creative Cafe locations.
However, we are working with each individual to provide monthly activity bags shaped to their interests. This is supported by regular online craft/arts activities; the provision of creative and exercise focused activities newsletters/booklets; and regular phone calls and welfare check-ins.
If you are an older person, or wish to refer an older person to our service, please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org call 0141 575 3001.
We run two Craft Café workshops for older people in Edinburgh within Viewpoint care homes. These are open to Viewpoint tenants and care home residents, and are funded by Viewpoint.
The Cafés are safe, welcoming spaces for people to socialise and express their creativity. From painting and drawing to jewellery making and sculpture, our Craft Cafés bridge the gap between care and housing support, creating a vibrant creative space and improving social interaction.
You can watch a short film about our Craft Cafe workshops in Govan and Edinburgh here. You can also read more about our work with older people on our older people's blog.
The sessions take place in two different care homes:
House, 22 Lennox Row, Edinburgh, EH5 3JW
Raphael’s, The Chapel, 6 South Oswald Road, Edinburgh, EH9 2HG
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 10am-4pm

What people say
"Having felt, at 78, that my life had
lost all my purpose, I am now much more contented, with my new friends and new
things to think about. I now think I will be walking again soon, and resuming my old activities alongside my new
ones. Craft Café has restored my determination to live my life - come what may."
Aidan, Craft Cafe member
“I didn’t think I could do work to that standard. It’s the first time I’ve admired my own work. It’s been 50 years since I last did anything!”
Helen, Craft Cafe member
“I so look forward to these Craft Fridays – it really does help to have things in the diary and I find the week runs smoothly when one knows there is something to look forward to at the end of the week.”
Anne, Craft Cafe member
The team at Impact Arts work hard to secure over £1.5m of funding per year to provide life changing creative experiences for more than 5000 people.
You can help us achieve this target through making a single gift, or a regular donation. Thank you.
