Children: The Young Gallery

The Young Gallery, based in the East End of Glasgow, is Scotland’s only dedicated gallery space for children up to 12 years old.

We deliver artist-led creative arts projects in schools and nurseries in Glasgow and across Scotland. These are designed to inspire and empower the children taking part, many of whom have had extremely limited access to artistic or creative processes in the past.

What makes the project unique is the professionally curated exhibitions taking place at the end of each programme, giving children the chance to see their work given pride of place in a stunning gallery space. The gallery can be found at 112 Sword Street, Glasgow G31 1SF.

What people say

“We were really impressed with the project. Taking part was the most disengaged class in the school, but they really embraced this project, fully engaging with the activities and enjoying the experience.”
Deputy Headteacher

“The project has been brilliant. I was really impressed by the way the tutors worked with the children to build the artwork over a number of weeks, and this is a method I would use again myself.”
Class teacher

“I’m excited to be involved with such an exciting project. The Young Gallery helps children realise the practical, social and emotional benefits of creating artwork, transforming lives and creating a legacy for children in the East End of Glasgow and beyond.”
David Shrigley, Artist and Patron of the Young Gallery

Work with us

We work with children between the ages of 0 and 12 across Scotland, and we are keen to hear from nurseries and primary schools looking to work with the Young Gallery tutors. The number of weeks the project can take can vary depending on your circumstances, and the project will include an exhibition and celebration event hosted at the Young Gallery.
