In light of COVID-19 we have had to take the difficult decision to stop all our face-to-face delivery. As a result, our work with children has been put on pause. We continue to monitor the situation and hope to resume these programmes shortly.
Creative Play: connecting children with nature through creative play at Inch Park!
Impact Art’s new Creative Play service provides free imaginative outdoor play opportunities for children in P2 to P4.
The sessions are designed to encourage children to develop creative skills, confidence outdoors and help them make new friends. After joining us, children will have met new people, learned games they can play outdoors with little or no materials and discovered their local park through a completely different lens.
From creating abstract sculptures out of organic materials found in the park to building birds’ nests, or doing forest treasure hunts, storytelling and painting with mud, Creative Play will ignite children’s imagination and encourage a deeper and more creative contact with the outdoors.
This programme is open to children in P2, P3 and P4. We will be working with children that attend four local schools (Liberton, Prestonfield, St John Vianney R.C and Castleview Primary) during six week blocks. During the school holidays, the sessions are open to all children living within walking distance to Inch Park, regardless of what school they attend.
Children will typically be collected from their school at 3:15pm and taken to Inch Park for an engaging creative play session and a healthy snack. At 5pm, they must be collected from Inch Park Community Sports Centre by a registered parent/carer.
Children that can only attend a few sessions are still welcome, but parents/carers must join in their first and last sessions. All children must register with Impact Arts –this can be done on the first session when the parent/carer stays with them. On the last session, children will have the opportunity to share their learnings with their parents/carers and will receive a free goody bag full of inspiring materials to use outdoors.
We can provide disposable ponchos, but please make sure children are dressed for the outdoors! If you need help with this, just get in touch with us.
Why not also have a look at our free booklet of 30 fun and creative ways to play outdoors!
