I'm 18, from Glasgow, and have been living in Kilmarnock for the past seven years. I have been involved with Impact Arts programmes since moving to Kilmarnock and have first hand experience and knowledge of many of the organisation’s programmes. My interests include performance, music, and video production, and I am particularly passionate about writing and performing spoken word poetry. I pride himself on being an accepting, creative, funny, honest and helpful person.
My Impact Arts journey began with Gallery 37, and I have taken part in the Cashback to the Future programme every year since. My video ‘Supernatural Scotland’ was exhibited at the showcase at the Barrowlands, and I completed my first spoken word performance with Impact Arts at Glasgow Cathedral. I have exhibited widely alongside Impact Arts, in showcases in Glasgow and Irvine, and at the Maritime Museum in Irvine. I have also previously worked as a television extra.
I previously held the role of inclusive learning ambassador at my school, and I intends to bring the valuable skills I have developed to the Sketchy Youths group, considering how to effectively cater for a diverse range of people and create an inclusive environment. I also wish to bring LGBT and disability representation to the group.
Whilst being involved with Sketchy Youths, I hope to learn a wide range of skills and work towards a Community Achievement Award. I also intends to explore new avenues to share my film work, and am interested in reviewing the use of the Impact Arts YouTube channel as a possible vehicle for sharing Impact Arts and its young artists’ work. I have already begun making connections with artists in my local area, which will provide exciting possibilities for the group.
