Express Yourself

Express Yourself offers weekly creative workshops for care-experienced young people aged 14-25.

Express Yourself is aimed at Care Experienced Young people aged 14-25 who may have a lack of connection to peers, require opportunities to extend their networks/gain social capital, to become agents of their own change; improve their mental-health/wellbeing and/or to identify opportunities. They may be engaging in challenging behaviours and/or lack the confidence to move forward with their lives.

Express Yourself is a Life Changes Trust funded programme for care experienced* young people. We seek to give them a voice, to become agents of their own change, to be more than the factors that have affected them. We aim to support the young person to unlock their voice and ambitions and to provide them with the support to connect, gain confidence/skills, self-advocate and become more than the statistics that often represent them.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore their interests and ambitions for the future through Creative Writing, Visual Arts and more! No creative experience is necessary and young people will be supported by our Creative Staff and Youth Work Team to make sure they feel safe and confident.

As well as meeting new people and learning new skills, participants will have an opportunity to show-off and celebrate their work at the end of each creative block.

This will be an opportunity for care-experienced young people aged 14-25 to attend a weekday evening and a Saturday workshop, releasing their creative outlet, meeting new people and learning new skills.

* This includes those who have been, or is currently in care or from a looked-after background at any stage of their life, including foster/kinship care, those in adoption who were previously looked after etc.
