Where: Care homes in Edinburgh (Leith and Morningside)
Time commitment: Over the next six month (weekly hours to be discussed).
We're looking to recruit volunteers to support delivery of our Craft Cafe arts and craft workshops in Edinburgh care homes.
You will be working alongside our creative team to support residents and tenants of Viewpoint care homes to participate in workshops that allow older people to maintain social connection and learn new creative skills.
On a day to day basis your main responsibilities will be to:
- Assist the lead tutors with all delivery needs of the project. This can include preparation of materials and equipment, preparing artworks for exhibition, setting up and tidying away workshops
- Support participants on a one to one basis where they require additional help and support
- Maintain safe and protective boundaries
- Document workshops through a variety of means, taking photographs and evaluating the project with the participants
You will be supported to gain new skills, make connections, and gain the confidence and knowledge to contribute to the development of your community. You also get hands on experience of planning and delivering life-changing creative programmes that celebrate older people's artistic achievements, strengthen social connections and have added health benefits.
You can also choose to work towards achieving a Community Achievement Award and/or Arts Award as part of this programme.
A PVG check will be required (Impact Arts will cover the cost of this).
The team at Impact Arts work hard to secure over £1.5m of funding per year to provide life changing creative experiences for more than 5000 people.
You can help us achieve this target through making a single gift, or a regular donation. Thank you.
