The Tall Ship by the River Clyde will be the stunning venue for a new aquatic-themed exhibition by older people who attend Impact Arts’ Craft Cafe workshops in Govan.

Entitled Art & Sole, the exhibition will feature mosaic artwork inspired by fish, and will go on display at the Tall Ship for two weeks at the beginning of April 2017.

The artists have been looking at species of fish native to the UK and found in local waters by the Clyde. They carefully designed intricate mosaic fish which will be displayed as a colourful shoal at the exhibition.

Frank is a Craft Cafe member and is looking forward to seeing the group’s artwork on display. He said: “It will be great to show the
public our different ideas and let older people in Glasgow know they have the
opportunity to come to the Craft Café.”

“Through learning how to do the mosaic it has helped me
learn how to sort shapes out. When you see it
coming together, it makes you feel happy and proud of what you have made.”

“It means a lot to me, coming here to the Craft Café. It
builds your confidence and gives you a brighter outlook on life. You build
friendships too, meet new people and learn loads of new skills.”

Charlotte Craig is the Lead Tutor for the Govan Craft Cafe. She said: ”
This exhibition is an example of how everyone at the Craft Café has their own individual and unique style, but together we fit in a characterful and colourful puzzle.”

“The Tall Ship will be a very appropriate venue, considering many of the members grew up by the Clyde and, whether through industry or memories, are connected to it in one way or another.”
