Eco-Chic Fashion Freak is our creative fashion design programme which involves the manufacture of recycled clothing to pilot a young people-led social enterprise. It also forms a major part of our Creative Pathways Programme.
Key skills include: art and design, sewing, cutting, costume design, manufacture using both recycled and handcrafted techniques, sourcing materials, understanding environmental issues and working within a retail setting. The 2009 participants chose two themes for their final collections, ‘Nautical’ and ‘Burlesque’ as well as a daywear collection. Their stunning designs were modelled by themselves at the final showcase event at St Andrews in the Square.

The collections:
Same Jeans
A collection of recycled jeans, denim skirts & pinafores which have been skillfully and creatively reconstructed.
Hot Tees
Limited edition t-shirts, which sold brilliantly at a mid-point sale.
Nautical But Nice
A daywear theme for the final show taking inspiration from all things sea-inspired!
Burlesque
A hand made collection of corsets for the final show inspired by the world of cabaret and old fashioned glamour.
