Hillhead Time Capsule and Public Art Project
Impact Arts, working with Hillhead Housing Association 2000 has created an Arts Masterplan for the Hillhead area in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, to be delivered in parallel to the regeneration Masterplan for the area.
The first stage of the Arts Masterplan was to create a time capsule and a small scale Artwork.
Impact Arts consulted with local primary schools, local residents and local elderly groups over 12 months to determine the contents of the Hillhead time capsule and an art work which would act as the marker to the capsule.
The time capsule was buried in May 2008 in the newly opened Homezone as part of Phase 1 of the Hillhead Regeneration.
The artwork is a simple tree that will mark the passage of time, and a metal tree grill which has cut out panels relating to the history of the area, i.e. the Roman settlement and the Red Lion Foundry.
