Impact Arts was established in 1994 by Susan Aktemel as a small business. She identified the need for the development of excellent projects that make a difference to individuals and community groups, and the opportunity to create work for freelance artists who are committed to operating within the community environment.
15 years later, we are the leading community arts company in Scotland. We want to make a real difference in communities at a local, city-wide and national level through developing excellent work with our partners.
We see the arts and creativity as catalysts for positive, lasting change in people’s lives, and through our work we want to enable people to flourish. We want to be a successful, profitable social business, recognised for excellence, innovation and creativity.
We have stayed true to our aims and values, and since 2004 the company has undergone great transformations. We are now a creative social enterprise with charitable status and we successfully balance our commitment to social change with being a dynamic and responsive business.
