Moving into a new home can
be an exciting yet daunting prospect for homeless
young people. Although a new tenancy is the opportunity
to create a stable base from which obstacles and
challenges in life can be addressed, it remains
true that many new tenancies fail. One of the reasons
for this failure is that young people do not have
the skills or resources necessary to turn a bare
flat into a home.
Fab Pad helps homeless young
people turn their new tenancies into homes, by bringing
them together with interior designers and artists
who are sensitive to their needs. Our work centres
on helping young people to unlock their own creative
talents and on showing them how to create maximum
effect at minimum cost. The end result is a home
that they have created themselves. We believe this
one significant factor may mean the difference between
maintaining and abandoning a tenancy.
