"Perfect! the children were able to discuss their own 'worries' back in class."
Pauline Moore, Holy Family Primary School

What is Big Bag?
The Big Bag theatre production was translated from Virginia Ironside’s Children’s book ‘The Huge Bag of Worries,’ by professional Theatre Director Mark Pençak and Actress Mary Wells. The show has been successfully touring Scotland for over seven years and has been asked back to re-visit many schools and nurseries.
The show introduces the audience to Morna, a seven year old girl who one day wakes up with a lot of worries which she chooses to hide away in a Big Bag. The play explores the feelings Morna experiences because of these worries, and then eventually how she deals with them, by telling someone she trusts.
What are the benefits for children?
As well as being fun to watch and get involved in, the show has a clear message to encourage children to share their troubles with someone they trust before they become too big to move.
Tell me more...
Big Bag comes complete with actress, stage manager, set and props. There are no lighting or sound requirements. Duration of show is around 35-45 minutes. Each show can cater for an audience of up to 100 and is most suitable for 3-8 year olds (although adults are more than welcome!)
Big Bag has been a popular feature at many Child Protection and Health Care conferences and events — often used as an ‘ice-breaker’ to kick start the day. In addition to follow-up arts workshops (Drama, Visual Arts, Dance and Music) for children, we also tailor these to adult groups.
